The original concept of “community readiness,” was presented at the Kentucky Conference for Prevention Research in 1991, by Mary Ann Pentz, she made it clear that unless a community was ready, initiation of a prevention program was unlikely, and if a program was started despite the fact that the community was not ready, it would lead to the programs failure. NLCC TTA has taken this model and developed it for our language programs to use for their communities to build language programs that will be sustainable for future generations.

Please join us to learn more about the community readiness model and how you can help your community to define issues and strategies to address your language acquisition and language retention needs.
