Coaching Calls with In-service Trainings
Shared with permission from Sharon Yazzie, UAII, BH2I Project Coordinator, Contribution by Maria Griffin
In November, United American Indian Involvement (UAII) BH2I team invited Dr. Jennifer Edwards to provide a training on how the behavioral health team could assist the primary care team in caring for UAII patients in chronic disease management.
Over 30 people from UAII and the BH2I TTA Center staff listened to Dr. Edwards as she presented on “Chronic Disease Management & Integrated BH Care: Diabetes, Hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome, & Obesity.” Dr. Edwards spoke about the use of motivational interviewing with the patient on the topics of Diabetes, Hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome, and Obesity and how the integrated care team can assist in building stronger communication between patient and primary care practitioner. A question and answer session followed the presentation.
UAII has graciously given permission to have this recorded training be uploaded to the digital toolkit where all BH2I grantees can access it. UAII has asked for another in-service training to take place in the new year.
New for this year, the BH2I TTA Center is offering individualized trainings as part of the coaching call experience. If there is a topic on which you would like to have a training or presentation, then please feel free to contact Denise (firstname.lastname@example.org or 509-993-2977) to discuss your training needs. We do ask for at least two preparatory calls with your team to ensure that we are meeting your goal and objectives for the training, whether you need more than one training, and to set up a date and time that works for all parties involved. We are here to serve YOU!
