Integrated Practice Assessment Tool (IPAT)

Contribution by Denise Middlebrook, PhD

Just a reminder for those of you who have not completed the IPAT tool that we had requested be completed last fall. Most of you have completed and sent those into us, but there are still a few of you who have not sent us your IPAT. This tool is extremely helpful and is meant to aid you in assessing your level of integration. It takes the subjective analysis out of the process and provides a better and more accurate view of where you are currently in your efforts to integrate in your clinics.

Our goal is to take your first IPAT and compare it to a second IPAT that will be completed by your programs in advance of the final convening and this analysis will be part of the programming at the convening, so you will want to complete both IPATs. We need both IPATs in order to make that comparison and to show your program’s progress, therefore one IPAT is not enough.

Remember, there is no right or wrong. This exercise is meant to be a helpful, objective look at your program. So, please complete and send in your first IPAT as soon as possible. If you have already done so, no need to send in a second one until we notify you. If you need assistance in completing your IPAT, please contact me at and we’ll schedule a day and time to go over it together.
