We have a new training available on the NLCC website.

Title: The Importance of Language & Culture for Healing Brain Development

Summary: This is a live training with Aaniiih Nakoda College and Fort Belknap Head Start Staff. With American Indian / Alaska Native children experiencing PTSD at the same rates as combat veterans, some serious brain development implications arise that can only be mitigated in early childhood. This training takes a look at how trauma physically injures the brain emotionally and cognitively, but most importantly how language and culture HEAL and promote healthy brain development. Language and culture work together to prevent drug and alcohol use, suicide, and diabetes, and they are an investment in our future.
